Oh, the singular pleasure of a picnic on a spring, summer or fall day! Couples fill their hampers with delectable goodies, grab a favourite blanket and find a private spot under a sheltering tree for the most romantic of rendezvous.

Larger groups of friends and family, take a more proactive approach – reserving picnic tables near a barbeque pit and settling in for a long afternoon or balmy evening of non-stop conversation, softball, board games and oodles of satisfying comfort food.

Formal picnic areas  in our beautiful parks can be book in advance for birthdays, family reunions, corporate parties and any number of other good reasons that bring larger groups together. In addition, there are casual picnic areas in some of our most scenic parks that are available on a first-come basis for impromptu picnickers.

Picnicking in Burnaby: brings new meaning to dining out – outdoors, that is!

note: Due to the dry weather and extreme heat, the City of Burnaby advises all park patrons that there is no smoking or charcoal barbeques permitted in our parks, trails and green spaces. "No Smoking Fire Hazard" signs are being posted in parks and trails throughout the City and the ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Also, please be reminded that open fires are prohibited in our parks, except with a permit.
