Making a Difference
The mandate of the City of Burnaby's Human Resources Department is to provide information, coaching, counselling, and advice on all of the services and programs for our employees. Major functions include, but are not restricted to:
- Employment
- Benefits and Compensation
- Labour Relations
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Training and Development
Employment activities include city-wide recruitment and filling all job vacancies.
The Benefits and Compensation division administers the City's benefit programs (medical, dental, extended health, life insurance and disability plans). It also provides information on the Municipal Pension Plan and is responsible for salary administration and employee records.
The Labour Relations division handles the administration of the City's collective agreements and provides advice and assistance to City staff on labour relations issues.
The Occupational Health and Safety division ensures the City's compliance with WorkSafe BC health and safety guidelines, coordinates the City's safety program and provides advice and support to other departments and safety committees.
The Training and Development division delivers a wide range of training programs including leadership development, new employee orientation, retirement planning, business courses and computer training.
