Councillor Sav Dhaliwal was first elected to Burnaby Council in November 2002. He is now serving his third term as a councillor.

Councillor Dhaliwal volunteered for a number of minor sports for over ten years. He has served as President of the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association and was made a Life Member in 1997.

Councillor Dhaliwal is founding chair of the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame Committee and had worked closely with the City in designing the Bill Copeland Arena.

Councillor Dhaliwal proudly served our senior citizens while volunteering with the New Vista Society as a director, treasurer and a trustee. He is a founding member of the Burnaby-Edmonds Lions Club.

Councillor Dhaliwal has been recognized by the Government of Canada, University of British Columbia & the Goel Family Charitable Foundation, Fiji Association of British Columbia, Chetna Association of Canada and tow local Sikh temples for his long and outstanding services to the Community.

After a long career in the information technology field, Councillor Dhaliwal retired from TELUS in 2005.

Councillor Sav Dhaliwal and his wife, Cheryl, have lived in Burnaby for over thirty-five years. They have a grown son and are proud grandparents of three young girls.

At present, Councillor Dhaliwal serves on the following boards, committees and commissions of the City of Burnaby:

• Chair, Traffic Safety Committee
