Introduction

There are five ordinary men living in the city of Burnaby, British Columbia who have led very unordinary lives. Don Brown, Alan Emmott, Dave Herd, Jim Lorimer and George McLean all served Canada in a time of war and their community in peace time. The honour that they all have in common and that best represents their dedication to their community is the status of Freeman to the city of Burnaby.
