During the war,the Freemen were stationed at various points in Europe and North Africa. Dave and Jim were involved in infantry campaigns in Holland, Belgium, and France, Alan was stationed at a Royal Air Force base in the south of England, Don was involved in commando missions in Italy, while George manned naval ships during campaigns in North Africa, Italy, and France.
