After getting to know each of the Freemen just a little bit, we’ve come to appreciate how they’ve had a profound impact on the growth of Burnaby as a community and how their bravery and courage played a crucial role during one of the greatest and most tragic military conflicts the world has known. By any measure, Don, Alan, Dave, Jim and George should all be considered great leaders and heroes, but it is their humility, their selflessness, and their simple love for their community that best distinguishes these men as truly admirable human beings.
