Film Schedule

Friday, October 2

FLOW (For Love Of Water) 7:00 pm
FLOW investigates the looming global water shortage by skillfully revealing the tensions between politics, the environment and human rights. Irena Salina's award-winning documentary builds a case against the growing privatization of the world's dwindling fresh water supply, while begging the question "CAN ANYONE REALLY OWN WATER?" You will be thirsty for change!

Saturday, October 3

The Waterfront 7:00 – 8:00 pm
What if you lived by the largest body of fresh water in the world but could no longer afford to use it? The Water Front is the story of an American city in crisis but it is not just about water. This award-winning film is a powerful and moving story documenting the people’s struggle to uphold democracy and keep water from becoming privatized.

The Battle of the Bags 8:15 – 9:00 pm
Plastic bags. Canadians alone use about six billion of the handy throw- away items every year. They take hundreds of years to biodegrade and have sparked heated debates in cities from San Francisco to Mumbai. This documentary gets a handle on the bag battle. From the Big Oil employees who brought the bag to America, to the Nobel laureate fighting for a bag ban, to the retired German schoolteacher who holds the world’s record for the most plastic bags, the film takes stock of this icon of convenience culture.

Limited seating is available. Register by calling 604-294-7421. For more information, check out www.greenideasnetwork.org.
